Snakes

Encounters with snakes are inevitable in the great outdoors, and they're not confined to just the summer months. I've come across them on trails in California even in January. As long as you respect their space, they generally won't pose a threat. Snakes are truly captivating creatures, and when you spot them on the trail, it's a reminder that you're entering their environment rather than the other way around.
