Joe loved working with wood because of the creative aspect of make your own designs. He made these chess men out of Basswood, each hand craved and painstakingly painted. Each piece took about three hours from block to finished piece.The bookends took him about three hours each.
Joe started collecting stamps in 1965. He loved the hunt of looking for and finding just the right stamp, the old ones.

Fishing for blue fish and stripped bass off of the rocks in Newport was a passion for Joe. He used to go fishing with his brother and is shown here with a 40 pound stripped bass.
