Bike Paths

Cycling is an excellent workout, and while mountain biking holds my heart, nothing beats the joy of cruising down a dedicated bike path along Venice Beach, relishing the gentle Pacific Ocean breezes, or riding 20 miles up the amazing Swamp Rabbit Trail!

Swamp Rabbit Trail in the Rain

Oct 27th, 2023

It has been over a year since I first road the Swamp Rabbit Trail. So, I can now call this my home trail. I have been riding Conestee Natural Preserve, but today thought that I would get back to the SRT! There is SO much to see on this bike path. I started at the Zoo and did 24 miles up and back to Traveler's Rest. You will see waterfalls, Ferman University, and everything in between. The weatherman called for light showers in the morning, so why was I riding through 8 miles of hail and lightning? The locals did not stop for silly thunder and lightning, so niether did I. I got totally wet! At times I could not see the trail. But fun had by all!

Conestee Nature Preserve

Jun 27th, 2023

Finally road Conestee Natural Preserve on my RSUB, and rode up to the Swamp Rabbit Trail connector. Along the SRT section was some amazing mountain biking single track. I road it on my street bike and lived to tell about it! It would be amazing to start here and ride the entire length of the Swamp Rabbit Trail. No one is ever there during the week, turtles and wild life everywhere under a green canopy. Like my own little park! It will be my go to ride. It has so much more to see and enjoy than the upper Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Contestee Nature Preserve, with Luna

Jun 24th, 2023

I took Luna for her first ride of Conestee Preserve today. We did 10 miles. She wanted to play on the swings at mile 6, but then fell asleep for the last 4. I hope that she will be my riding partner for some time to come.

Thornblade

Apr 15th, 2023

A 10 mile ride on almost every street in our Thornblade golf course community. Very quite on Saturday but for a few cars, walkers, and runners. More elevation gain than I expected!

Swamp Rabbit Trail, with Luna

Jan 29th, 2023

Luna's first ride on the Swamp Rabbit Trail! I turned on the nav a bit less than half way, so we did around 9 miles on her first ride and she wanted to go much farther! I have found a great partner to ride the trail!

Swamp Rabbit Trail, in the winter

Dec 20th, 2022

Took my first Swamp Rabbit Trail ride since putting on the new e-assist. It was around 40 degrees and at one point I got snowed on. All of the leaves are now gone and at 40 degrees there were very few riders out and about! We have lived here for 7 months now and are learning the seasons. They sure go by fast compared to Los Angeles!

Swamp Rabbit Trail, third ride

Sep 16th, 2022

Another great ride up the Swamp Rabbit Trail starting at the Greenville Zoo. The humidity is gone!

Swamp Rabbit Trail, second ride

Aug 19th, 2022

This was my first time riding the Swamp Rabbit Trail from downtown Greenville to north of Traveler's Rest! It drizzled the entire ride but at 77 degrees you dried off pretty quickly! It was green, beautiful, and delightful!

Swamp Rabbit Trail, first ride

Jul 25th, 2022

This was my first adventure since moving to Greenville SC. The Swamp Rabbit trail goes 22 miles from below Greenville to Traveler's Rest to the north. 44 miles total if you road both ways. They plan to expand it within three years to go from Columbia, the capital, to Ashville NC. I started south of the city and road through the city center next to the Reedy River and beyond the picturesque falls down town. Next week I will start where I left off to see another section. It is so green, but 93 and humid!

Marvin Brad Bike Trail

A nice ride along the strand in Santa Monica and along Venice Beach. Very very clean and not one tent from Santa Monica Pier the whole way down to Venice Fishing Pier! They have cleaned it all up! One day past the holliday and nobody was on the bike path!
