Lady Face Trail, off of Kanan

Dec 18th, 2020

Ascending Lady Face Trail to reach the peak above Kanan and the 101 Freeway is an unparalleled hiking experience. On this occasion, we opted for the less-traveled back side of Kanan, which defies the conventional definition of a trail. Instead, it unfolded as a challenging terrain of rock climbing and scrambling, demanding a remarkable 900-foot elevation gain in less than a mile – a daunting feat, to say the least.

For those passing by Kanan Rd on the 101, a conspicuous U.S. flag atop the highest point to the south marks our conquest. To reach this summit, we strategically positioned two cars—one at each end—navigating a total distance of 2 miles. Undoubtedly, this proved to be one of the most formidable hikes I've ever undertaken, pushing the boundaries of physical endurance and adventure.

That is Kanan down there
